The Depena Reserve Amenities are located at Dolls Point on Botany Bay.
The Reserve is a popular park with local residents and visitors and the existing facilities had proved to be unable to cope with the demand. The existing building was retained and extended to provide more facilities including 14 female toilets, 7 male toilets and 5 urinals, an ambulant and an accessible toilet with baby change, a staff lunch room and store room, external handwash. As with other Council amenities there was a requirement to provide a facility with a strong emphasis on sustainability, security, be easily maintained and offer accessible and ambulant toilets which can be used by all visitors to the site.
The materials used include metal and clear roof sheeting supported on a steel frame, brick walls, timber privacy screens and polished concrete floors, all of which assist the Council in maintaining the building. In particular there was a requirement to keep the murals by artist Steve Vella which are a striking feature of the building.
Bylett Associates was engaged to provide cost planning from DA submission through to the pre-tender estimate and Bill of Quantities. The post contract phase was managed by Bayside Council.
